Is it totally random? I don't really care about winning it or whatever, it's more out of curiosity that I ask. For example:

My RB has 2,075 yards and 32 TD's but isn't listed as being in the league offensive MVP race. Another RB with 1,489 yards and 20 TD's is on the list though. Am I missing something or is it kind of random?

In short, it doesn't

One thing is certain is that it uses "blowout adjusted stats" rather than "raw stats" to accommodate for stats picked up in big blowouts. When you switch to blowout adjusted, your HB is still ahead of the other, one, but it is much closer than you realize.

There are other factors that I don't believe they have shared specifically to the public, just speculation out there as to what the other factors may be.

Yep, it doesn't work. Putting up good stats on a bad team will get you in the race.

There's also a portion involved about contribution to your teams success.
I won't go into detail about it because I don't really know how it's all decided (and I doubt anybody knows the exact ins and outs of that aspect).
but it's one thing to consider.
