It's 4th and Inches and says "No Gain" how is this a 1st Down, lol?

Because it's from rounding for the graphical display and text output. They may have needed a fraction of an inch and got it, but for the text output it says no gain (since it doesn't show gains that small).

tbh is 0.5 inches really a gain. I consider it a loss.

Gains and losses are calc'd that way. Down and distance is not.

Probably have a point and I am not saying current setup is 100% too my liking either, but that is the way that it is and has been for some time.

When it's all you need for a first down and you get it, it's a gain.
