Would the training that takes place in the game be more interesting if you needed to train skills in order to keep them from eroding? It is sort of ridiculous the way we cap something then walk away from it. Or perhaps you could allow erosion of one skill in order to further develop a new skill, so a player could evolve and potentially have two distinct careers?
For instance, your speedy WR evolves into a possession receiver as his career progresses. Perhaps something like vision is able to be enhanced at a faster rate as a player ages, but with speed you are just training to try to maintain, and even that may still allow for some skill erosion (a more complex version of decline).
