New Jersey Vikings vs. Carson City Cubes
Canton Hall Of Famers(5) vs. Seattle Reign(8)
Michigan Panthers(3) vs. New York Huskies
Detroit Soldiers(7) vs. Milwaukee Fire(6)
Maryland Iron Maidens vs. Megatropolis Tigers
Lexington Mob vs. Washington Wildcats
Hartford Hurricanes vs. Murder City Devils(4)
Columbus Buckeyes(2) vs. Pontiac War Kittens(1)
Today's games are assured to leave their mark on the playoff race as we have three ranked teams going head to head.
The Vikes look to end the worlds longest winning streak against the Cubes, in a game where winning won't mean as much to anyone else, but losing could be seen as a huge disappointment by everyone.
Semi resurgent Canton looks to fight their way back into the final four against the offensive yard amassing monster that is Seattle. It's the #3 offense vs the #7 Defense so Canton looks to have their hands full, especially with Seattle having their backs to the wall trying to maintain their 8 seed & the fact that Canton has yet to defeat another ranked opponent.. then again Seattle has only defeated one ranked team.
Perennial bottom feeder & all around no threat Michigan faces off against the Low level Jeckyl/High level Hyde conundrum that is New York in a game that won't do New York much good to win, and will only marginally hurt Michigan to lose with all the other head to head ranked team matchups happening today.
In the 2nd ranked team matchup, Detroit & Milwaukee square of in a battle of defensive minded teams for the right not to be placed in the bottom tier of the playoffs. The loser of this game will find them selves almost neck & neck with the loser of the Canton/Seattle game, while the winner could possibly catapult their way from the bottom of the pack into the final four. Both teams seem to feature defense over offense, so it could be a long, nerve wracking day for both teams.
In the game with to many M's in the team names, Maryland faces off against Megatropolis. If i say anything that implies maryland isn't the best 4-5 team ever, inevitably someone from maryland will post a snyde remark after the game implying that I should have given them more credit & acknowledge them as the best sub .500 team ever.. Meanwhile Megatropolis, in addition to leading the league in most players with nicknames to describe their position, may be playing for pride, after starting the season with playoff aspirations.
Lexington squares off against Washington as Lexington quietly hopes to sneak in to the playoff picture if a few things fall their way. Washington's given up a ton of points in their last few losses and Lexington is still one of the conferences most prolific passing offenses, but apparently wear the opposing team's jersey every week as they have seemingly always led the conference in interceptions.
Murder City looks to pummel what's left of Hartford. But fr the first time since i can recall all season, Hartford has no inactives. Having played the Bucks & the kittens back to back, it's hard to say where the team is at right now, but a upset of MCD could go a long way in starting hartford's turnaround.
And Super Tuesday's 'king-o-the-mountain' main event.. the baby eating 'Bucks, vs the upstart War kittens, in a game where no matter who loses, every other ranked team that has played either team, wins. Both teams are ranked fairly close both offensively & defensively, so it should be an interesting matchup. The stakes are obviously high, as Columbus best chance at controlling their own destiny is to beat Pontiac, and with a win today Pontiac would have a 2 or more game lead on all ranked opponents other than Murder City & Michigan. A luxury that could be pivotal in the coming weeks as more ranked teams face off.
