since supposedly the AI doesn't register .5s.

If I have a input for 4th and 3, and in game we get a 4th and 2.5.
my input above will fire correct?

Well, it depends, since you can set ranges in your AI.

If your input is for 4th down and a range of 3 yards to go to 3 yards to go, then no, that input will not fire on 4th & 2.5, because 2.5 does not equal 3.

If your input is for 4th down and a range of 2 yards to go to 3 yards to go, then yes, that input will fire on 4th & 2.5, because 2.5 is between 2 and 3.

the easiest way to do this is setup your AI for lowest to highest.

example:

0-1 (inches to 1 yard to go will fire)
1-4 (1.5-4 will fire)
4-7 (4.5-7 will fire)
7-10 (7.5-10 will fire)
10-99 (10.5-99 will fire)

SO,

if I want a 4th and 2.5 input to fire, i just set ai for 4th down and 2-3 yards?

Im guessing no way to ONLY fire 2.5

I put decimals in my OAI. If they don't work, at least they are covered because the decimals are consistent.

3rd and 0 to 1.5 yards
3rd and 1.5 to 2.5 yards
3rd and 2.5 to 4 yards

idk the tester reads .5s, never really understood why it wouldn't work

then again i never really paid much attention to what was happening in the games

so you do the exact same thing i do except by decimals instead of whole numbers.

Actually... here's what you can do... use the following Inputs in this order:

INPUT: 4th down and 0 to 2 yards to go.

INPUT: 4th down and 3 to 99 yards to go.

INPUT: 4th down and 2 to 3 yards to go.

What will that do? Well, on 4th and 2, the first Input would fire. On 4th and 3, the second Input would fire. On 4th and 2.5, the third Input would fire... because 2.5 is more than 2 (and thus would skip the first Input) and 2.5 is less than 3 (and thus would skip the second Input).

Give it a shot and see if it works. It should work though.

novus, youre making this harder than it needs to be.

Jampy, just go in order like i said. you dont have to use the numbers i did, obviously. But do it that way and its super easy.

start with 4th down and work backwards.

4th down 0-1
4th down 1-2
4th down 2-4
etc etc, then
3rd down 0-1
3rd down 1-3

then second

then first

then FG
then punt

you'll have to make some extra late first half and late 2nd half stuff for certain situations (like being down by 3, you'll want to go for a FG on first down if there's barely any time left and you're on your opponent's 20)

Now, we can certainly debate about whether or not it's WORTH having an Input that only fires on 4th & 2.5, and in that case, I would agree, it's probably not worth it. But Jampy didn't ask if it's a good idea... he asked if it's possible. And the answer to that question is yes -- see above.
