Am I the only one who's Teams DE's keep Crashing on Screen Plays even when there set to Passive Pass Rush Aggressiveness? RDE = http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2418055&pbp_id=74329

It's been that way forever. There's no point in setting DE aggressiveness at anything but high because they won't come off to defend the screen even with very high vision.

yeah this should be fixed. I've seen 80 vision DE's still go after QB so not sure what the issue is, it just seems broken

DE in the flat is different than pass rush aggressiveness.
Technically, passive pass rush aggressiveness is working. In the linked play by the OP, the RDE stay in place for several ticks before finally going after the QB. His pass rush is less aggressive than normal. Its just not working the way users, including me, think it should (ie, the DE sees the HB run a route that appears to be a screen and breaks off the rush completely and goes to cover the HB).

Pausing on the snap isn't pass rush aggressiveness, it's failing the check to get a jump.

Just use an outside blitz or put your DEs in a flat. Screens are easy enough to stop if you plan on it. It might mean you can't run a double coverage on all of the dots, but the same plays that stop screens will also stop sweeps, so you at least have that taken care of.

No, they are talking about how they move forward. Stop. Then pursue.

Well, its not really pausing at the snap. The DE started, stopped, then started again.

Ah. That happens any time an eligible receiver crosses their path. The same thing happens on Pro Set plays where a back crosses the formation behind the line while running their route. Pass rush aggressiveness has to do with a DE not just pausing but abandoning pursuit of the QB to cover the screen recipient. I've seen it happen, it's just extremely rare regardless of your setting. In the past I suggested making the settings produce more dramatic results where someone on -100 would get a substantial penalty to breaking blocks but a very high chance of reacting to the screen (assuming sufficient vision).
