Thinking 16 teams per conference is turning 15 cents into a dollar, you can think it's a dollar all you want but still wont be able to get that biggie fries from Wendys

With that said, 16 teams could easily be reduced to 14, maybe even 12.
All 12-14 teams play each other once and then have 2 or 4 inter-conference games.

Did some research to see how many "gutted" teams are place holders with CPU, basically against other "gutted" CPU teams...

Here's the spiel:

Teams with fewer than 40 but more than 10 on current roster

National Pro

European Pro League - 1
North American Pro League - 0
Pacific Pro League - 5
South Atlantic Pro League - 5

TOTAL = 11 teams with 11-40 human owned dots

Regional Pro

Regional Pro Elite #1 - 4
Regional Pro Competitive #2 - 9
Regional Pro Competitive #3 - 5
Regional Pro Competitive #4 - 13
Regional Pro League #5 - 5
Regional Pro League #6 - 11
Regional Pro League #7 - 10

TOTAL = 57 teams with 11-40 human owned dots

Semi Pro

Semi Pro Elite #1 - 1
Semi Pro Competitive #2 - 3
Semi Pro League #3 - 1

TOTAL = 5 teams with 11-40 human owned dots

National Minor

National Minor Elite #1 - 0
National Minor Competitive #2 - 3
National Minor League #3 - 3

TOTAL = 6 teams with 11-40 human owned dots

Regional Minor

Regional Minor Elite #1 - 0
Regional Minor Competitive #2 - 4
Regional Minor Competitive #3 - 7

TOTAL = 11 teams with 11-40 human owned dots

Will not touch the rookie leagues, as they averaged roughly 46 teams had over 40 humans dots, and roughly 87 with 0-10... out of 160 teams.

I do think that this data shows that reducing the amount of teams in each conference would create a more competitive atmosphere.

Last time contractions occurred, I do believe it was because of data similar to this where CPUs were becoming more prominent.

Again, just a thought.... might be yet another lolsuggestion though, so you know.

Nice data work, but I don't think it supports reducing all leagues. Probably just need to reshuffle some of those pro regional pro leagues

In summary: Give the lvl 68s their own league.

Probably not, though shuffling has been going on for a good number of seasons.

In theory if the teams were brought down to 14 or 12 per conference (24 - 28 / league) when time comes that things start to become crowded (doubtful), simple remedy would be to add another league in that tier if so needed.

But with so many gutted teams, CPU teams, etc spread across the board, and Pro not being what it used to be... it would make it more competitive and hella tougher to get to Pro, not to mention WL.

This would probably solve this issue as well... will add this to the OP somehow

Maybe take 2 leagues from Regional Pro and make them "National Minor Pro" (Level between Semi and Regional)

This would also reduce the fluff in Reg Pro

or give the 20SP boost bonus sooner, which has been suggested before (both have actually)

+1 for this.

Could probably get away making Reg Pro 4 and/or 5 a league of it's own for all the teams with lvl 68s.

Contracting the leagues would make a mess of the schedule. Currently 16 teams leaves only 1 OOC game. if you went to 12 or 14 the entire system would have to be revamped. Also, I suspect if you contract you'll see the same problem but over more leagues. The best fix would be to do promotions based on dual sort logic (initial sort on Day 41 and a secondary sort on Day 48).

We're not going to reduce the number of teams per conference. Other ideas regarding league setups you can discuss but this one is NGTH.

Also not doing dual sort as Bort has said countless times.
