How high could one take First Step before they're wasting their SPs?

12-ish?
Certainly we're subjective here, but Bort's said the diminishing returns after 10 are pretty steep.

Depends on if it's favored or not. Penalized - 10, not penalized or favored - 12, favored - 14.
edit:
That obviously includes equipment.
You mean 10 on favored and 14 if penalized

No, I meant it the way I said it. Catch originally said that favored/penalized is calculated before diminishing returns, but Bort later said that favored/penalized is calculated after diminishing returns. I'm assuming the most recent information on that from Bort is actually true.

Well that isn't very good advice. It is all about it firing, not about what kind of agility you have to match it.

What about 80 agility? Is that high enough?

85+ then I think creeping up over 10 would be ok, otherwise I don't think 80 in agility and 13 in FS will be much different than 80 and 10 in first step. It kicks more with agility 85 and above... imo.

Depends on how much speed you spent skill points on really. If you went with 165+ speed, you likely aren't going to get near 85+ agility and still have the skill points for Catching, stamina, SA's, etc... If you went with 155ish speed, then you could easily get around 90ish agility without hurting the rest of your build.

Don't listen to dahman. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Straight burner?
Speed - 157+
Agi - 85+
First Step - 11
If speed and/or agility can be taken higher, then first step could be bumped to 12 (maybe more, depending) without wasting it.

dahman32, I don't know if you're posting nonsense intentionally or unintentionally but knock it off regardless.
