Why was the tackle not made by either?

Hard cut fake on the SS, CB just looks like he was set on aggressive pass rush and missed him

Well, the CB was never in position to make a tackle.

The SS, I dunno

The cb had no chance, but the SS looked weird, if u go frame by frame he just kind of hits an invisible wall and moves back away from the ball carrier, who never faked the SS, just faked the MLB, it's possible the TE had a large blocking radius and somehow blocked the SS through the HB, but I'm unsure. It definitely looks weird though.

I agree with the CB.

SS I would guess there was a vision check he failed concerning the carriers path. Which is to say I have no earthly idea.

Was the CB blitzing or covering the HB? Either one put him out of position.

The SS was hit with a hard cut/fake.

The CB I can deal with but it looked like the MLB got bounced back from the block of the TE and then was juked by the HB.
Not the SS though...?

Just looks weird.

Go frame by frame, there was no change of direction by the HB as the SS approached, that hard cut/fake talk sounds like a load of crap.

the hard cut fake thing is not an overlay or a special ability... its just something that every dot has the ability to do.

Because Bort loves watching DCs pull their hair out.

Not arguing that point. It does look weird.

Again, not arguing. The "force field" issue has been around a while and Bort looked into it and that's his answer. Personally I don't like how the defensive player bounces away. Bort disagrees and its his game.

Yeah, but Bort rarely knows what actually happens in his own game which is why he relies on us to find and analyze bugs. The SS is absolutely not faked on that play. A fake doesn't ever move a defender backwards. Sometimes when a player is moving fast in one direction and the ball carrier cuts back against the grain, the defender can't adjust correspondingly and skates by, but that doesn't explain moving backwards. What happened here is that the TE initially blocks the MLB, who is then disengaged, at which point the TE then improbably engages the SS at a pretty significant distance. It looks odd and probably shouldn't happen, but blocking in space used to be awful, so I can't complain too much about them being able to instantly spin and engage a different defender.

As reference for Bort not knowing what he was talking about, that Bort quote is actually wrong as evidenced by the rest of that thread. Man defenders actually can be faked by offensive players close to them that they aren't assigned to cover, whether or not Bort intended them not to be.

It actually looks a lot like a stiff arm, but yeah.
