Forum > Suggestions > Change how players are declared unavailable when they change teams

We just signed a player that played yesterday, but he is unavailable for the dc even though he will be eligible for our game tomorrow. The player knows what week he last played, and the team knows when the next league game is so:

if last game played is less then next league week
----- make player eligible for the dc.

Not rocket science and no players will ever need to miss playing time due to bad coding.

2) Is there a business reason for implementing the suggestion
3) Does the cost of devoting the coding time to implementing the suggestion make sense

2) Customers get unhappy when they miss playing time for a legitimate action. Which of the dozens of annoying GLB traits will push someone over the edge? For me, it was PW penalties. At that point, they lost a potential paying customer because I do enjoy helping run a team, but player building bores me. If I had no free players, I would still do team stuff and just have no players.
3) If the code is structured at all, 2 minutes of coding and testing time.

I know that the reason the unavailable thing was added was to keep players from playing more than 16 regular season games. so you may want to check and see if the player in question would have actually went over the 16 game limit if he was available.

He cannot go over with this suggestion because it takes into account the next scheduled league game. So if you have played 4 games, and change to a team still on week 4, then the player would remain unavailable. I do assume that all players are set to unavailable upon joining a team, since that appears to be the current case. But if the next league game is week 5, then odd/even day is meaningless as that player would be eligible for week 5.

EDIT: I understand the reasoning for the code, and to be honest, if one of my people had done sucha crappy fix, they would have been reprimanded.

I'm on board also. While it is the way it is so that dots CAN'T get more than 16 games played per season, dot's currently CAN get LESS than 16 games played due to this issue. So +1 from me.

I remember someone getting only 14 games a few seasons ago. IIRC, he changed teams twice and got caught both times. The 2nd being that he changed right after a game, so had to wait the 2 days, and could have played, but the game was very early, and no one was on after he became eligible but before the game.

they should also have a mechanism where upon reaching plateau dots can somehow get an adjustment for any game XP they've lost from this kind of thing.

I had made a suggestion about this but it died a quick death. IMO, I get it that GLB doesn't want dots playing extra games (for several reasons)... I just don't understand why they can't have the missed XP from the missed game simply tacked on AFTER the final playoff game? Really simple solution to the problem. Solves both the missed game(s) and keeps dots from playing extra games without having to upset the current system at all.
Doesn't solve the OP's issue... but is kinda a part of it anyways.

+1, I did a couple of Trades this Season and those Players are only going to get 15 Games Played because of this!!

As long as the player is on a roster, they miss no xp now. Though I do get that you want your dot to play in every available game.

+1 to that aspect. But missing xp is no longer a concern.

- Players gain max XP just for being on the roster at game time (min plays = 0)

There's also this:

Mar 6, 2012
- Fixed issue with game awarded XP where players could miss out on a game's XP if they changed teams mid-season and played back to back days in different weeks

I thought they had to be on the Depth Chart to get the XP's for that Game, lol? Guess I should read the Changelog more, lol.
