I was thinking about buying a CPU team but have some questions about how to run it. I don't want to buy the team and figure out I don't have time to manage it properly. I'm thinking of buying a Rookie Casual team since those are recommended for people who may not have a ton of time to commit to the game. I have two questions at the moment:

1) What's a reasonable salary to offer players when you send them contracts? I've seen different numbers all over so I'm not sure what's too low and what people will accept.

2) When you own the team, do you have to be signed on to do things when you play another team or do you just set tactics and let the games get simulated?

1) Most players do not care much about salary. The money can not be used for anything, so there is no point in being greedy.

2) You do not have to be signed on. In fact, there is nothing you can do in real time when your game is simmed. You just set the AI / tactics and let the sim do its thing.

One thing I would add. A human owned team with alot of CPU teams will not do well, and that is by design. Thus, until you get a mostly full roster, you should expect to struggle. Also, it is easier to get players in the offseason. Just want to set your expectations.

youre also very new. i recommend learning how to build properly, make some friends so youll have a decent roster before you really start recruiting (its hard to fill a team from scratch), also, if you want to learn how to coordinate thats a good thing to know how to do.

if you can do that, then own a team

I know the CPU players are pretty useless and I also know I'm very new to the game. I'm mostly trying to figure out how a lot of this stuff works. I honestly didn't think about whether getting players would be easier during the season or off-season but that makes sense. I'm willing to have a terrible season at first so if I don't get human players it won't kill me. I like to win just like everybody else but as long as things don't get taken away for losing I'm willing to be terrible at first. I have a couple more questions to add:

1) I noticed each team has a certain amount of money. If you don't fill your stadium and that kind of thing and and up running out of money, what happens?

2) Aside from buying/renewing the team, do people use Flex Points for anything when they own the team? I'm wondering if I'd have to spend real money on Flex Points for the team since I don't have any referrals.

1) just send minimum contracts and get someone to build your stadium for you. if you give out too much money, youll end up going negative in money and lose your team i think.

2) you have to pay flex for scrimmages and to renew your team every season.

Hey Guchman, we're rolling another rookie team roster for our little group on Day 40.
We're always willing to take on new guys and help them along with building great dots.
Then when you're ready you can take on more and more responsibility as you go until you decide to build your own team.
Gimmie a holler!

That's definitely a great offer chief. I'll take whatever role you want on whichever team.

if you dont mind spending A LOT of time doing something, become a DC. it takes a lot of time to get your AI together but then its very simple and a lot of fun. i can help you with that if needed.

but seriously, it takes a lot of work to get it started. like a lot a lot. then its just some adjusting here and there and tagging your opponent.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=373 1st season as a DC, 5-0 with 0 points against in the regular season and i havent scouted once. i have over 100 plays though. so i put a lot of effort into it but now its just pure fun where as being an OC is a lot more work constantly and not as fun imo.

if you want to learn how to DC and are actually willing to put the effort into it, hit me up. it will be one of the most fun things you can do. then if you decide that you like GLB, nothing more fun coordinating your own dots

The one problem I am having is that no matter how many human players I sign, you can't expect to please everyone. With 55 human players, some will complain about playing time, some will complain about tactics, and some will complain about anything else they can find. You need to recruit the right players and make sure they understand that if they are not the best player at that position, they will not be starting. In rookie though, pretty much everyone plays. Just expect criticism and know how to handle it. I just let some people go because they feel that, being 4 levels behind the starters, they were treated unfairly by only playing 36 plays a game while the starter had around 50. Gotta do what you need to do to win man!

I feel kind of bad taking duties on your guys' teams though since you're trying to be competitive and I have no idea what I'm doing. If you're willing to let me though, I'll take any duties you want me to have, chief and ProKop. I was thinking maybe it would be better to start with Special Teams and work my way up from there.

Don't feel bad about it... that's the best way to learn.

Most newbies who jump right into owning a team get overwhelmed. Trust me, you don't want to go there. I've seen it too many times.

Start small. Chief's offer is perfect, because the stakes will be low, and you'll have a chance to learn the ropes from people who've been playing for a while. Once you've helped out someone else's team for a season or two, you'll be in a much better position to run a team yourself, and you'll have a natural base of people to recruit new dots from -- the agents on the team you're already connected with.

And, also, so many of the coordinators here are doing multiple teams and will be thankful for the break.
BTW, this is exactly how I started in GLB and, Novus, Procop, Hottie, and the rest are right. Getting in with a decent team and teammates will give you plenty of experience and people to help you out.
