actually they can, but they will continue to play dumb to avoid any real accountability to the user base.

Some hook threads get locked (yours was), and some don't.

Whether the thread is a "good one" or not, it's still a hook thread. But, it's still going. GLB is spotty across the board in how they handle things. Why should the mods be any different?

From what I understand a hook thread is one in which the title does not tell you what the thread contains, yet grabs your attention, causing you to have to open it to even figure out what it's about.

By your definition the link you posted would not be a hook thread, as about 90% of the population had a good idea what that thread was about before they opened it. Also, by that definition only about 2 percent of all threads are not hooked in some regard.
