Seriously wtf. Pure randomness is a blight to the building process. On 3 consecutive occasions now I have tried to get strength training near 100% before capping on my prep QB and every time the breakthrough has carried it over, screwing up my build plan.

Just gtfo breakthroughs

I swear it has a higher chance of happening when you're close to rolling over.

I don't like them when they screw with my build plans, but I understand why they're there. They help to level the playing field between the total math nerds and the more casual players, and I think that's good for the game as a whole.

But the building process is so math based the nerds will come out on top regardless, and because it is random it has the potential to expand the build value gap even moreso than if it didn't exist at all.

Meh, I don't mind a little randomness thrown into the build process. Building from pure math to an exactly pre-determined point is kinda boring. I like that the EQ store and break-throughs can either challenge you with a minor setback or reward you with a minor advantage. I don't like ending up on the wrong end of them, but it's pretty sweet when you gain an extra train from a breakthrough or land a sweet AEQ in the first couple rolls.

I am totally cool with the store. You know what you are getting into when you roll the dice there. Training breakthroughs are a swift kick to the nuts far too often. I get what you are saying though.

I think of the breakthoughs the same way, if you've got something 85% trained and you're getting 13-14% yeild, you know what you're getting into in risking the rollover for a little more training value. The rollover is a punishing downside for sure, but all the other breakthroughs that you don't notice because they don't burn you add up over the course of a dots life in the upside column.

I would love it if there were no breakthroughs. When I see a useful one I only breathe a sigh of relief that it didn't screw me over. The spcific circumstance of why I created this thread legitimately hurt my dude's build which I will be spending a good deal of money to take to 79. I will need to get lucky in the store now to make up for it but if the opposite happens the build will be ruined. /butthurt

I don't think anyone would miss breakthroughs if they were gone.

Do breakthroughs happen in auto-training?
