why can't we send out an extension that begins when the season ends?
as it is it makes no sense and it makes it a major pain in the behind.
say you want to send out yr extensions for the next season.
you want to give salary increase in line with the next league.
you send out the contracts say day 36 after losing in the play-offs.
now, if some of your guys accept it before day 40 {which WILL happen)
it will add onto your salary cap hit and all the sudden you pay 10 million,
just to extend your teams contracts into next season. or- you could wait,
until day 40 to send them- then half yr team misses it {which WILL happen)
and you lose all team chemistry.
so why can't we send out extensions that BEGIN DAY 40?
that way we wont have to jump through hoops just to extend contracts,
and you will ensure no one can get extra morale for the play-offs,
or have to pay a ridiculous cap hit, just to give the team raises for the NEXT season.
this should be a no-brainer:
contracts that BEGIN ON DAY 40
