I'm sure most will hate this idea, but I think a speed server would be a fun spin-off from regular GLB. It would probably have to be a separate game from here.

Spend three seasons moving up the ladder then hit pro and plateau season 4.
Spend 5-6 seasons in pro then have auto retirement rather than decline.

I think this would make for a huge pro league and maybe keep some from losing interest. This could bring some life back to our current user base. Maybe make boosting and AEQ free, but not give any refunds for the actual players at retirement and an expensive flat rate for team ownership.

So instead of the meaningless year and a half to work your way up you could do it in just three seasons. I'm not a great long term builder and it sucks to pump money into a dot for a year+ just to realize it's worthless and needs to be retired. Even a non perfect dot would probably find a team. You would likely see a lot more experimental building and systems than here because the risk would not be so high. They would not have to cater so much to age groups other than pro.

Well. I think they are missing the boat. Many many other games do this successfully. The ngth is pretty vague and likely refers to inside this game which obviously wouldn't work. My suggestion is something separate.

Honestly if GLB had a realistic competitor with the same sim that did this you may as well stick a fork in this game. It would be much more appealing to new comers.

Some may love the extreme length and mediocre mid levels of this game but I don't have the patience. If I can't seem to build a good long term dot, how well do you think the average new comer will fare? Do you think they will stick around playing in D-Leagues or on boring/bad CPU teams? This complicated game is almost exclusively catered to the current user base. A lot of big names left this game and no one has stepped up in their place, yet the marketing strategy just can't be rethought.

Exactly. Resetting would not be as painful knowing you can get back quickly or have farm players constantly resupplying Networks. Peewee, High School, College, Pro boom you are there.

IDK, be careful what you ask for. I see unintended consequences with this.

Something similar has been asked for several times, I'd love to see something that allowed one to build a dot from scratch for whatever level I wanted. For some reason, the trolls usually ride these type of suggestions hard and GLB doesn't want to do anything of the sort. I'll have to try to ask Bort next Q & A why.

I believe Catch has stated more than once that they're not speeding up the build process any more than it already is. On top of that, DD has said they aren't going to fragment the user base any more so this can't be done as a different type of league.

I never suggested a different league, it would be a new game. It could fragment the user base a bit, but it would be much more attractive to new users than this game. This game will slowly keep dwindling away as it is. Even if they advertise and bring in a surge of new users it is just not built for them at all.

I believe they're currently working on 3 new projects. Perhaps that's 1 of the 3?

Honestly, Bort giving us what we want is part of what's wrong with GLB.

no. bort giving just the WL guys what they want is whats wrong. a lot of us just want to play for a couple of seasons and restart but we cant because it isnt nearly as fun as watching older dots, so we spend a year doing nothing to watch our dot for a couple of months then restart.

if this was implemented, the WL guys could do their long term shit while us folks who enjoy just playing for fun can go to the new game and have fun for 4-5 months then restart AND enjoy another 4-5 months with no year in between the enjoyment.

I don't like watching dots age at all. I like the AI vs. AI aspect. Coming up with a strategy and testing it, that's where it's at. Hell, you can write macros' to grow a dot, come back in a year and claim you are brilliant if that's your bag. There are companies out there that do that kind of thing. Just ask all those Wow and Everquest junkies.
