When you are scouting an opponent utilizing scout team from their page.

Please explain - Offense Scouting and Defense Scouting

Offense to me would be what offensive plays they used against their opponent and how well they did.

Defense is what their opponents utilized on offense against the team I am scouting???

Offense part: yes.
Defense part: no, it's how their defense face other team.

Thanks. I think I meant to say that... I was using defense and looking at what offensive plays seemed to work

I would think would you scout another teams defense it should at least show you what type of defense they are running, rather than just the plays being run against them.. Obviously you can watch the replays against them to determine what they are doing, but I don't want to click through every play. There should be something that breaks down the plays run against their defensive sets.

Think about it like this:

If you're an OC you want to scout their defense.
If you're a DC you want to scout their offense.

You can shortcut like this by simply calculating percentages of runs vs pass (offense OR defense), types of formations, ect, ect, ect. But you won't get nearly as good of info as you do by watching plays. Back when I did scouting (before there was a "scout team" option), I'd select several games... preferably close scores of both wins and losses... then take notes about percentages. Once I had that I'd then select a handful of plays from given situations (like 1st & 10... 2nd and short... 3rd and long... ect, ect.) and watch for repetitions or certain formations, dot actions, and note WHO was where in those formations and what they did (like blitz, zone, spy, ect, ect.). The better you scout, the better your OC and DC can prepare.

A good OC/DC does his own scouting.

I know that. But as I said....a good OC/DC does his own scouting so he can see with his own eyes how an opponents dots react to certain formations, where they line up on the field, were any tagged players used in a particular play, and so on and so on. Getting a "report" from someone else isn't even in the ballpark compared to scouting with your eyes.

I agree. A scouting report can help. I was just making a point for whoever that a OC/DC should do his own scouting and not just base things off a report.

if you are not doing your own scouting as the OC or DC (whether or not others scout) you most definitely are not that good of a coordinator
