when should I start multi training? I have 3 attributes unlocked. Should I wait til I have 2 stars on each?

Around season 20.

I don't start to multi train until my attributes are capped to certain levels, but that is probably wrong.

3 is the norm but you will be ok with 2 also.

Never stop at 2 or 4. 0, 1, 3, and 5 are the only good options and 5 is only for very extreme builds.

That's generally one too many.

I do 3 on my majors and 2 on most of my minors that I multi train. But then again my dots aren't very good.

I always multi train as soon as I get 36 BT's and then enhance training as I go, usually at least 3 enhancements on my main 3 attributes. 2 enhancements on all others. On occasion when I am extreme building I will enhance 5X my 2 and 3 mains.

You shouldn't. Don't start multi-training until you've at least second capped and preferably third capped the first attribute. Going 20% on things you didn't unlock is also a big waste of bonus tokens.
