Now sure if this is just a 1 time thing as this is the first time I am actually checking the bracket and stuff,

but holy cow:

Insane amount of Bye's. Why not just condense all the byes and make everyone play a game and leave only 1 team without a bye?

The reason for all the byes is because 80 teams signed up for the tournament.

If we were to take all of the teams with byes and pair them up with each other, here's what would happen.

1st round: 80 teams
2nd round: 40 teams
3rd round: 20 teams
4th round: 10 teams
5th round: 5 teams <--- now what?

In order to avoid byes, you have to have a tourney with 2 teams, or 4, or 8, or 16, or 32, or 64, or 128, or 256... notice how the sequence works? With each additional round, the number of teams doubles. Since the Rookie tourney this year has a number of entrants that doesn't fit into that sequence, the only way to run the tourney is to have a bunch of byes in round 1, with just enough games in round 1 so that when round 1 is done, there will be 64 teams left. Then the tourney can continue on like a normal tourney.
