The game itself, rad. The graphics of the gameplay, Atari, at best.

Why not upgrade the review of games? I saw a very cheesy, yet graphically pleasing, game today that I thought would be a great joint venture with GoalLineBlitz, or possibly at least a motivating factor and goal to reach towards for GLB.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-L5yyqSwvE

It doesn't have anything near the quality of control that GLB brings to football lovers, but isn't like some sort of early D&D that has to be played by imagining your players making great moves and rolling dice while playing out the plays in your basement pretending to be the players.

Why not make it better?

...Big Win graphics do look pretty cool, but that is it's selling point ...has no real logic to the game mechanics imo, wins/scores seem to be completely random ...just like you're watching a 'film clip' of some random game

Be careful what you wish for... heavy graphics like in your second example would put quite a strain on the servers. Dots may not look that impressive, but they're a LOT easier to deal with from a bandwidth standpoint.

Dots are fine with me.

It would actually not have anything to do with bandwidth, tbh

I mean, while the spritesheets may be slightly larger than dots, all browsers cache it so it's not like it's even being sent every page load.

The large server load (not bandwidth, that's not the issue) mostly comes from the large amount of data tied to every play, and that likely wouldn't change THAT much with "updated" graphics. Maybe 10-15% more, with an added "direction" field or something.

The main downside is the large amount of work it would require to make prettier graphics. And hiring an artist because I'm fairly sure Bort isn't majorly into graphic design and animation.

perhaps we should pay more for our dots so he can get this done?

and one thing alot of people on the game do not look at is this. If Bort went to put the prettier graphics into the game. the cost of the game would go up to play as well. GLB is a business so anytime a upgrade is made that takes money out of borts pocket. then that cost in turn trickles down to the users to replenish borts pocket. so to all the people that keep wanting better graphics. if you get them then you might as well expect to pay quite a bit more to play and don't expect anymore free crap from the game.

with that said I liked the graphics that was used as a example. but I personally do not want to have that much added cost put on the users here.

Looks like it's a smartphone app called Big Win Football. Doesn't look like a browser game, just a smartphone app game.

That's all I'll post. Don't want to give too much promotion to a competing game, amirite?

Completely agree. Plus I would think from a coordinator standpoint, the dot approach with a straight down view would be preferred over the example giving. Heck, I don't even like watching the Flash replays.

Could you imagine them trying to code replays to show a 4 yard diving tackle, an interception from 5 yards away, and of course... the blocked xtra point or fg that never happens because the defender simply stands in front of the kicker and waits?

Add more to this list and have fun

NGTH of course, would reveal way too many wonky plays that these little dots hide.
