I think its abundantly obvious that the GLB player population is declining. Each season we lose dot agents. We lose owners. We lose coordinators. CPUs plague the conferences at every level.

It is clear that the Demand for GLB is at an all time low.

So much so that an owner generally can not reliably field a team of paying customers unless he is a franchise team owner in one of the few remaining networks or he himself builds many if not most or all of the dots.

That's expensive. So much so that it reduces his ability to build dots for others. Further feeding the Solo Owner syndrome.

This makes the price of team ownership so high that less and less people are bothering. At a cost of hundreds of dollars a month its not something most people can afford. So more people give up and leave, even less dots are built and the cost of team ownership rises even higher as the owner has to build more dots to field a team.

And he gets less fun as more and more of his opposition is CPU and the league forums are quieter and lonelier each season.

This problem has to be fixed, or Bort loses his game.

And in this economy I do NOT think the panacea of the next release is going to solve the problem.

Add this to the equation - GLB is five years old. Its got issues. its not being improved. In MMO terms its lucky to even be running.

The pricing structure needs to revised to revitalize Demand.

Lower the cost of running a team by lowering the cost of building dots.

If the cost of building an entire team was reduced, say 30 bucks a month, maybe 15 to fit the industry norm, we should see an influx of new teams and more dots and more players paying cash.

Would it be more than might be milked out of the few deep pockets? Maybe not for a couple months. But how many deep pockets will linger how much longer? When was the last time YOU Bought flex?

I think the long run here needs many more players playing more Owner-Primary Agent teams. And that is only going to come with decreased cost.

I can't see how any one can realistically think otherwise.

Do you?

How 'bout we spend less time whining about the game and more time playing it?

I'm not saying the game doesn't have problems, but good grief, these endlessly repeated "The game is dying!" threads do nothing to help the game, and actually help to further the slow slide of the game by encouraging others to think the game is even worse than it actually is.

As a wise man once said, "You win GLB by having fun. Might as well try it."

The game has stopped moving forward since it got out of "beta"

Let's jump up and down on top of a loose pile of rocks that's about to collapse and shout, "I'm warning all of you, this loose pile of rocks is going to collapse!!!"

Yeah, that'll sure help the situation.

Who has a competitive round one playoff game coming up and who is going to be rolled?

Some of us can multi task.

As for the notion of ignoring the 900 pound gorrilla about to leave the room.....I understand the logic but its flawed.

This is happening whether we talk about it or not.

And if Bort doesn't wake the frak up and listen to solutions, we are gonna be out of an enjoyable game.

It's already boring as heck in the forums. I have more links to defunct network forums than extant ones.

I'm not convinced that money is the issue, therefore reducing the cost is not necessarily the solution. New players joining the game can play for months for free, and yet I see very few new players posting questions or flooding free agency with new players.

I was just talking to another agent about how much we enjoy playing the game, but how admins are far to lazy to tap into the real potential of this game and make it truly amazing. Clearly there are many things that need improving that they just flat out ignore, and the marketing is non-existent.

You've said nothing in your OP that hasn't already been said dozens, if not hundreds, of times already in these forums. You've offered no new solutions, and your post itself does nothing to improve the situation -- and could actually make the situation a little bit worse, if anything.

What do you want? A cookie? A pat on the back?

the game is too complicated and too difficult for new users to grasp before frustration sets in. it's not a money thing

Playing a dot is not the main draw of the game. It is not that exciting.

Building and running a team is.

Yes you can coordinate for others but that requires there to be a team filled with dots.

And that brings us back to the original problem. Its too expensive to build an entire team.

The free boosting dot concept was a good idea but the need to pay flex for CEQ makes it not terribly effective since in the long run those dots are not viable.

And even if they gave the CEQ away for free for the free dot (they should) that alone would not get it done, at least not initially, because of the current lack of teams. The game is too empty and boring to make a new dot go Wow this is cool gotta tell my friends.

Game needs a boost. I think Bort has to pay the flex for it by reducing the cost of team ownership.

Somehow.

The throngs in a million man protest do not each have a unique solution or message.

What they have is strength in numbers.

Lack of documentation is an entirely different but also very real problem, yes.

It isn't too complicated. Gamers love to fiddle with stuff. It is the lack of improvement and effort of the Dev and the way game improvement threads like this that could help the future of this game, getting locked and the way the forums are moderated.
