First: For a defensive coordinator, is it best to create a playbook with all custom plays, or is it best to use standard plays supplied by GLB?

Second: would it even be possible for a team like the one I am the DC for, with slow builders and low level players to beat a team with all human players and all are level 12 or higher? No matter what type of defensive AI I had in there, would it even help, or because we're outmatched, we wouldn't have a chance either way?

First, you want all custom plays. Anyone using GLB plays is an amateur.

Second, no matter how well you plan the sim will not allow you to beat higher level well managed players.

I'm asking this in all seriousness and want to help. What do you consider slow building?

Q #1 - I prefer to make my own plays. It allows me complete control over coverage and blitz options, and ensures that the players do what I want them to do. If they don't I can change my play instead of hunting down a standard play that might work better.

Q #2 - Effectively gameplanning for low level dots can be very difficult. This is especially true for players that are building long term (i.e. working their primary into the 80s) as they usually do not have the secondary attributes to support their primary and do alot of stupid stuff. A dot that is 100 Speed and 30 Agility is like a bus with a rocket attached, it can go fairly fast in a straight line but can't turn to save its life. Those dots also do not pass vision checks very well, so being in a zone they often just stand there while the other team is running past them. Thus, it is very hard to gameplan your way into a victory given the situation you describe.

Well I do want to say that a player manager on the team has said he was slow building. I was added to the team after he signed all his players to the team so I don't know if the team owner knew this or not. If I knew this, i wouldn't have bothered with the team.

Slow Build = a manager who doesn't distribute any of their skill points or training points to their players. Using the team just to gain XP and training points.

Anyone doing this is doing it wrong. Based on the EL of the dots on your team I suspected as much.

Take a look at this play. Custom play call 3-4 ROLB blitz zone. The Cb is supposed to be in shallow zone, The RILB is supposed to drop mid zone outside and the FS has deep zone. Whty do each of these players except the FS, take their first step towards the line of scrimmage?

Wow. That is bad building. It is one thing to hold some SPs while you hit caps (i.e. hold SPs until you can get the attribute to 48 / 61 / etc...) That is called cap building and is the smart way to build. However, if he is not even spending them at all, he is handicapping his players and you have no shot of winning with those dots.

Zones are hard for well built players to do well. Playing zone with bad players is a recipe for disaster.

With that said, that is a bad play design for that O formation. Zone or not, you have one CB trying to cover 3 WRs. That is not possible.

That I understand which is why I'm trying to reach out to people for a little bit of help. I am new to all of this being that I left the game for a few years and came back to updates.

I know.. It sucks because you really don't know what a managers intentions are until they are on the team. Someone could say they are active boosting with custom EQ, then turn around and be like this guy. Worst part of it, he had about 10 players on the team doing the same thing. The problem we have with it is, would we rather a human slow builder or a crappy CPU player?

Honestly? A crappy CPU player may actually be better if an agent isn't allocating SP.
