We are having a serious problem with our team tactics. The sim refuses to punt on fourth downs.

We've tried for three games now to do something about it. Our first attempt was pointless, the second one was a custom playcalling AI.
"Between 4th and 4th & 0 and 2, Outside Field Goal Range, 100% Play Type Inside Run"
"Between 4th and 4th & 0 and 99, Outside Field Goal Range, 100% Play Type Punt"

Lastly we changed the Offense Style Preset to "Pass First" and made sure to deactivate anything else.

Our team STILL refuses to punt.

What should I do about this? Who should I contact if I want someone to look at our tactics? Perhaps support could help us with a complete reset of our AI or something to help with this issue? Please assist me with any helpful tips you could offer. Thanks.

Make sure that the AI you edited was the AI that was selected for the game.

Make sure that you don't have a Quarter specific AI that is overwriting your all quarters AI.

Make sure that those are the first two inputs on the list or run the tester to see if you have another input that includes fourth down that is being given priority.

Let me clarify. I'm currently using the "Pass First" preset. There are no custom AIs active, no basic presets, and no custom playbook active. I could delete whatever I created, but I don't see how that would help. Nothing but initial basic AI is active. Could that have been corrupted somehow?

Sorry, I'm not really the best with the new casual AI format.

Double check on your tactics history page to see if the right AIs were called.

We are not in a casual league.

I've also checked the Tactics Calendar and the offense had no offensive preset for any of our games. That cell on the table is simply empty. Even for out latest game where we set the Basic Offense Style Preset on the Basic Offense tab to "Pass First" and disabled anything else.

We also set the Basic Defense Preset to "Zone", but the Tactics Calendar claims that Run Focus defense was used. I don't think defense should affect this however.

On the Tactics Calendar for upcoming games, everything is sest to "No Preset", "Default", "Current Chart", and "Default Playbook". I no other option becomes available, we will attempt to use the Tactics Calendar next to set our tactics for the upcoming game and see if that helps our team to punt.

It's got to be something mixed up in your AI. Maybe one of your inputs for 1st through 3rd downs accidentally has "1 to 4" entered for the downs? Maybe something is screwed up in one of your quarter-specific AI inputs?

Don't just look the 4th down inputs... half the time when one of your inputs isn't firing as intended, it's because ANOTHER input is catching the sim's attention by mistake.

Run the AI tester on the AI you used in your last game. Plug in all the details for one of those 4th down plays, and see what the Tester spits back out at you. For best results, do a test that shows your unmatched results as well, so you can see specifically WHY it's skipping past your 4th Down inputs, assuming it's even getting to them at all.

If you want more help, I've done my share of error-checking on AIs before. Shoot me a PM and GM access, and I'll be glad to take a look. See if you can find it yourself first with the AI Tester, though. It'll be good practice for you.

Not that I want to cast blame, but we did buy this team from someone.... I'll own up to anything we did though. I just hope we can get this fixed.

Do you use an AI? If not...why not?
