most advice given here is that there is diminishing returns past 10 for SAs--but is there an exception for SAs that directly boost a primary attribute? if each point of a certain SA boosts that dot's speed, agility or whatever (if that's even how the SA works), would having the SA higher make sense?

example: CB with Return Specialist SA at 22 http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2255168 is this a waste or are there some SAs where there's a benefit to having it at 20+? if so, which others?

edit: punctuation for clarity

Pretty sure it's a waste..

Search for it in wiki. The last Q&A covered it very well.

SA at 10 = 100% SA at 11 does not = 110% More like 107% Keeps diminishing as such.

If its a bonus SA with 10 in it than it is like having 12 in it so definitely wouldn't go beyond that although i am probably wrong.

He said that just for example.

Consensus that I have heard is that anything over 13 is a waste

I never go over 10. Why should someone? Makes no sense to me. SP's are precious and if going over 10 is diminishing returns, then it's wasted SP's IMO. :sigh: (Still no new smileys. )

probably worth it if you have AEQ in the last SA of the tree, 3 pts in the SA, and it's 3 + 1 + 6 = 10... another 3 SP could take it to 11. everyone would probably agree that that's worth it, especially if it's something like Juke or Spin, but 4 SP to go from 11 to 12, probably not.

also, Favored and Penalized SAs - is it just like having more points in the SA, or does the bonus bypass that and just give you a stronger % strength in the SA? if you've got a favored SA and it's at 9, should you take it to 10 because it's just getting a straight bonus to its strength in the roll, or should you not bother because (FOR INSTANCE) it'd be like taking that SA from 13 to 14 factoring in Favored?

I have always been confused about this myself. If 10 in a bonus is a waste or not.

No...10 in a bonus is ideal and not a waste.

To add on, is that 10 base or is that with gear? I mean, you can get over 10 with just gear alone and not spend a single SA in it. Or are we talking 10 base from SA's and then only 2 from gear or what are we talking about?

You lost me somewhere in there but basically, you get diminishing returns from 10 points onwards (and you can only achieve it using equipment).

If you have 0 natural points and 2 pieces of AEQ giving you +6 each, the last two points suffer from diminishing returns.
If you have 4 natural and 6 from AEQ, you do not suffer from diminishing returns.
If you have 10 natural, 24 from 4 pieces of AEQ, 5 from CEQ, you get diminishing returns on the last 33 points.

Anything above 10, no matter where it came from, will have diminishing returns. The bonus is applied after the diminishing returns are calculated, so 10 in a bonus SA isn't suffering from diminishing returns, but 11 in a penalized SA is.

explicit enough ?
