TONS of changes.
You get 2 free player slots now, so I'd strongly recommend making a free player (or maybe 2 free players) RIGHT NOW just to play with it for this season only. You'll immediately notice one new change: you'll get retroactive training points going all the way back as if you'd created the dot on Day 40 last season, so it no longer matters what exact day during the offseason you create your dot -- they'll all get the same number of training points. You'll also notice that a dot in a free-player slot can boost for free as well, though you still have to pay Flex for Custom Equipment.
Sign a one-season contract with a human-owned team somewhere (make sure they know you're only keeping this dot alive for one season), and play out Season 33. Ask LOTS of questions. Learn as much as you can.
At the end of Season 33, retire your free dot... that will free up the free player slot so you can use it on another new dot. As you get near the end of Season 33, find somebody knowledgeable who is putting together a Rookie team for Season 34, and hook up with them.

Make some players and familiarize yourself with the new building process. You'll want to learn about four-way multi-training and three star training enhancement. The application of skill points hasn't changed much since the caps remained the same.
