Currently the MLB doesn't move when set to cover man to be in front of the guy he is to cover.

Both these plays the MLB is set to Cover Man - TE
and has you can see he clearly isn't moved to be in front of the TE.

The MLB isn't allowed to lineup outside the tackles on the DPC. Either choose a different player to lineup, or move the player close and cover without move.

If you want the MLB to be able to lineup outside the tackles, make that the suggestion.

Time Trial is correct. The MLB position is considered inside the tackle box and has limited movement on where they can lineup.

Like Ray Lewis or Mike Singletary never lined up outside the tackle box? Limiting where and who can cover who is pointless imo and kills creativity on defense.... the only reason it was made the way it is now was to help prevent exploit blitzes, which it only partly succeeds in.

+1 to the OP

in 4-1-6 or 3-1-7 the MLB should be able to line up any freaking where.

while your at GLB free up some of the CBs in those formations too, and in anything used vs. SB trips left. There's no logic to it anymore.

I'm saying that the suggestion needs to be free the MLB on the DPC to go outside the tackles, which will allow the MLB to cover the TE as the OP is asking.

Well, I agree with that, but either way the MLB should be allowed to line up anywhere so I will +1 this one, and +1 your suggested suggestion if I see it as well.

but the TE was blocking though and you had set your SS underneath man coverage, i think
