Scenario -

You have just obtained enough SPs so that your can Soft Cap a Skill.

Player will raise that skill from training at this roll over.

The player will not level for several days.

Do you Soft Cap the skill now so that training is to the higher SP cost above the cap?

Or hold off until the day before the player levels to get the maximum training percentages?

Soft cap and then roll training over.

Indeed, cap now, roll training over.

Yep cap as soon as you can and take advantage of the roll over from training.

what do you do if training would roll over the attribute, but capping it before training would cause the training to fall short?

If you can cap it go ahead and cap it. If its a major attribute anyway.
Even if training falls short. It will roll the next time you train. Or just wait until the next day and train it on Light, normal, whatever it takes to get the roll.

What is the position and which attribute here?

suppose it's any position's 2nd or 3rd attribute that you've got as part of a quad train and want it to end up around 95ish (while the main attribute has already been prepped to go over 100). so the ALGs on it are getting ever more sluggish as you go. taking something from 62 to the 68 cap to beat a training rollover sets you behind quite a few % points in the long term training (because as you beat the rollover, you actually DON'T GET the rollover, you get far less %), while rolling it over before capping (before the next level-up) means that you basically have 3 extra flexible SP, which would just get spent when it needs to be taken to the next cap anyway

this is one of the vague things I'm not sure ever really mattered, each decision's benefits might cancel out the other's, but maybe the OCD builders know

Probably would be better answered by an OCD builder. I'm not so uptight with it. If you have time that you can train it to almost the same point before leveling, then hold back. But I would personally go ahead and cap it then train it, and if its doesn't roll train it individually the next day to get it to go.

That's not necessarily right, it depends on how far away the level-up is.
