seems like a pretty easy and straightforward fix. after you retire a player, keep the player jersey number box next to his name and let him choose any jersey number from 1-99.

clarification:
when you join a team, you can only choose one jersey number and you cannot have the same one twice on a roster. with my suggestion, it would not matter. when you retire, you would get a drop-down box to choose your jersey number like you always do when you go on a roster, BUT this one would not be limited by position or anything. you would get to choose any jersey number from 1-99.

it was nice that glb displays the jersey numbers of your retired players, but you were bound by the fact that you had to choose one on the last team you were on, and if your number was already taken by another player, you could not do anything about it. or if your favorite kick returner wore #1, that is not an option for returners on glb.

it's something small but i thought it would not be hard to do and give a chance for guys like 'jetsown09' a chance to pick #24 for everyone of his retired players....

And what happens when you have retired player number 100? Can't have the same number twice as it is... so does this mean you must throw away a retired player just because you can't retire his number?

Nobody said you had to number them... It's like picking a jersey number for your dot except permanently.

Oh and +1

hi theo,
no, the concept would be different. when you join a team, you can only choose one jersey number and you cannot have the same one twice on a roster. with my suggestion, it would not matter. when you retire, you would get a drop-down box to choose your jersey number like you always do when you go on a roster, BUT this one would not be limited by position or anything. you would get to choose anything from 1-99.

Then an amendment to your suggestion perhaps? What if you could pick from a bank of GLB avatars that bear a football jersey with the number you desire on it? This would permanently give your retired player his "number" (retired) without having to really add anything onto the game, making this a super simple suggestion. Providing a forum with a link to such a thing would suffice and anyone could retire their player with the "new jersey number" avatar affixed for their enjoyment.
