Why is it hard for me to recruit players? I offer them more money and tell them they will start. Then they reject my offer and sign for less and what not. I dont understand? Am I missing anything?

Money means nothing man. Don't try to recruit with money. Try to recruit by making a personal PM (not a copy and paste type of thing) and explain how your team has a legit chance at a title and just need that missing piece and you need their dot to fill that missing piece. People want to win and to have fun. Come up with a PM that caters to those things and even have other agents send them PM's sometimes works. Shows a possible recruit they are really wanted.

you need to save money to build a stadium as opposed to offering higher contracts anyway

To a degree. I admit while I do read the PMs, I put more value in who I see as agents and coordinators on the team. There are plenty of teams I signed on with who, to be honest, had no hopes for a title and just because I like those who were involved. My past experiences with agents alot of the time dictates who I help.

I do agree with the cut/paste crap. Always seems to be the recruiters who screw up and tell me my OT is the one missing piece in their defense keeping them from a title.

Recruiting comes down to two things:

- relationships
- benefits

Nowhere is money on that list because contracts don't mean that much to a user in the big picture.

When you say relationships are you talking "That's my quarterback man....don't talk about my quarterback like that" or are you referring to agents knowing each other?

I think it works better if you would have started recruiting 3 weeks ago. Set up a post in the TLfP section and consider purchasing a private forum for each prospective agent to join and discuss about the team. If you can't establish 90% of the roster by Day 40 then good luck starting a team in rookie league in time for the season to begin. Most agents don't want to join a team that has a lot of empty spots on their roster. Also, it's important to have a plan that can be communicated effectively on each position.

I think you're too far behind to get a full roster this season unless you're willing to spend flex to fill the vacancies for this season And if you have some success you'll have an easier time recruiting and replacing those dots next season.

The way that I see it is that every valuable player is going to have options to join a vast number of teams and the odds are that my team won't be the 1st choice of any given player for a number of possible reasons. I don't take it personally but I won't spend a whole lot of time trying to recruit a single player from an agent that I haven't worked with before. Now once a player signs with one of my teams, then I look into the agent and see if he has more players that I can use and if so, then I'm more willing to spend time on those players / agents.

I actually received a PM from an agent that said he went to Ole Miss and said that he would never sign his players to a Louisiana team. I wanted to reply "I'm sorry (that he went to Ole Miss)", but I restrained myself".

P.S. I don't mean to offend people in general from Mississippi, I work in the state frequently and most people there are very nice, friendly and intelligent.

Back when I recruited, I strongly believed in PM's. And not just a "Great team... come join us for a championship chase!!!" kinda PM... but one where I spoke of the skills of the dot I was hoping to get from the agent... and how he would fit on the team... and how good our coaches are... and, sometimes, how active our forums are. As an agent myself, these are the things I sought out when I first came to GLB. Most (quality) agents are looking for quality (and equal) playing time... and good shots at titles (and awards)... and something to enjoy beyond the sometimes tedious monotony of day-to-day dot building.
Ya can't win championships without good dots... and good dots cannot win anything without good coaches (and owners).
