You'd have to use your money and hit up an owner for cash to buy your own equipment? And they'd be all like "Re-sign and I'll give you the money for your level __ upgrade." And you'd be all like "I played the season, gimme my equipment, I deserve it and I ain't re-signing to your last place finishing AA team."

I remember getting guys to commit to 3 year deals with the guarantee I would give them gear and then rotting them or trading them away for cash on the trading block

I also remember going through and signing every crap free agent and then trading them away for cash ..

I remember people making threads about how shady it was that they got signed today and were immediately traded for cash, I was like thats fine man I can just sit you in the infirmary and you can rot for 3 seasons, no hard feelings

I like the GLBPA thinking they could stop the rotting.

It was a cute idea.

I remember all the owner/player mutual raging and trashing that often boiled over to main or the league forums because of it. You really had to put a lot of faith into other people back then to make sure your equipment was upgraded.

And you also had the classic guy who bought a team only to sign his 1-3 dots to max contracts and bonuses and sell the team back after they had a nice stockpile of personal dot cash and fully upgraded equipment.

That GLBPA was the greatest thing that ever happened, a bunch of mediocre glbers telling really really shitty glbers to not sign with people like me, I never woulda won a ring if I had grouped up with those chumps

And what ever happened to the GLB unofficial drafts? Do those still happen?
