A - If you use the Shotgun 100% of the time in Basic Settings, do you need a FB? Or will the game call a FB formation sometimes just for fun?

B - Presets - is there a list of the plays that any given Preset will use? Or do they all use all of them?

C - Is there really no way to change the playbook used?

D - Presets. I hear they stink. Do they really?

E - If you are not using presets none of the custom slots are used, ala RB1 TE2 etc, correct?

F - What is the "trick" to coaching casual?

A: you never "need" a fullback. If you don't have one, the sim will just stick another dot in that spot if a play is called that includes a FB. Probably best to stick another dot like a HB or TE on the FB depth chart just in case if you are in this situation. You don't want them putting a LB in at FB for you. That being said, there is no such thing as 100% in Casual IMO. There will always be situational calls by the sim that override your %'s so there will almost certainly be plays called that use a FB.

B: I believe you have to have access to a regular AI to see the exact details of each preset. It will use all the plays and you cannot adjust the preset.

C: correct. The good news is, neither can your opponent so it all equals out IMO

D: The defensive presets stink. Some of the offensive ones are useable in Casual, some are just bad.

E: If not using presets you can still use the customs spots, but the only way to have them enter the game is by formation (i.e. put your power back at HB1 on depth chart and put HB1 as the GL formation back) If you watch enough replays you start to see that certain style of dots are not as effective on certain types of plays and a higher % of plays of that type are in certain formations. It's not an exact science, but if you find a certain formation is running a lot more inside runs than outside, you could again do as I did above with the power back in the GL formation.

F : No real trick. Recruit good players. IMO combo type players are very valuable (Receiving TE's that can block just enough, elusive HB's that can catch, etc). Hardest thing is understanding what the %'s will do for you on defense (i.e., if you expect your opponent to run 100% and outside 100% I would not use any run% defense). There are other small nuances too, but nothing significant. It's mostly about getting better builds than your opponent and using them correctly on the depth chart.

Thanks... follow ups.....

So "tagged" D doesn't work well?

How should I set the Basic DAI to call a Cover 2 man under defense at all times possible?

As to the goal line thing, are you basically saying the only way to have a second set of depth charts is in the GL formation?

Don't really want to give away any secrets on how to get that Cover 2 man under defense in Casual, but it can be done. Gotta do the research like everyone else IMO.

As far as the second DC goes, GL formation is the most obvious and easiest to use option. But, as I stated before, if you have a power back that is getting called for a lot of sweeps and pitches out of specific formations, you can use the Custom spots to force an Elusive back into those formations. You just a have to review the replays and pick and choose by formation. It is not an exact science, but I have certainly found small ways to gain an edge this way.
