WTF is the SS doing in this play? Hint his assignment is to cover the Deep Middle. NOT run to the Endzone by himself.

TE only receiver running right at him and the SS is running away at full speed.

Deep Zone, watches WR1 to see if he need to head that way, sees TE break open, breaks, makes the tackle.

I don't see what'd the issue?

looks like Deep Middle, try deep third. If you don't like him dropping that deep, set him to medium instead of deep. ss looks a little slow too, i'd guess 140 speed? not gonna cut it with todays TEs. i don't know your va setup, but my ss would have KLd that bitch

150. He was supposed to be the back up but I see I have yet one more thing to fix in the depth chart....

I'll try deep third.

But on that.

I am using some deep outside thirds. If all three are thirds, will I have uncovered lanes at the seams then? Cover 3 seems okay but cover 5 is really too much!

cover 3 - weak third middle third strong third.
Naturally in a cover three man under defense, the TE and HBs are going to be the best options as well as crossing patterns underneath the zone.
