if your player signs with a D team how long do you have to wait to sign them to your roster. I got a prep league team and made players but can't sign them until they turn 1 day old. Plus can not train until on a team.

there is no wait and, once they are a day old, your players will need to be 2 days old to sign with them so they will not be able to join your prep team.

but i would be able to sign them to my prep league team because the age is 1-40 day old

Basically, each day in the season the Prep Cap will also increase by a day.

So at day 1 the Cap will be 1-40 as you mentioned
Day 2 the cap will be 2-41
Day 3 the cap will be 3-42
etc.

So basically, you need to get yourself a rookie team rather than a prep team.

This. Caps are rolling in the sense that they increase by 1 day with each day that passes. By the end of the season, you are in the next cap already before even being placed in your new league for the next season.
