You can play a duplicated copy of your team so in essence you would be playing offense vs defense two times since the opposing team would be your team.

I get you cant do O vs D straight up I guess. But you could have a program that once you hit self scrim it creates a duplicate of your rosters abilities and builds. It may or may not use the same names or it can maybe adjust the names by adding a symbol to the end of each players name.

The point is that WHile the code wont accept a quick O vs D because of coding, maybe it will allow for a team Vs team using the same team twice or at least using the same builds and abilities for each player.

I think this would be a step in the right direction and this can be modified based on feedback from anyone that posts in this thread.

I posted this along time ago and it didnt get locked so I didnt mean to make a thread that will get locked up right away, just figured this suggestion must be different enough to hold water so thats why it didnt get locked last time.

I posted it in season 10...

...and I wasn't the first.

Bort has said he can't do this, despite lots of people who understand coding telling him how to overcome the issues he has expressed (such as creating an inverse ID for these games and copying the entire team and tactics to that inverse ID).

It would be fantastic, but quick scrims at least give you a lot of practice even if you can't control both sides unless you actually DO control both sides.

...hmmm... coming soon, TWO Time Trial teams at the same time!

all you'd have to do is copy the team into a temp team, knowing that the "B" team stats would not be saved. play the game then free up the temp team for the next game. any 1st semester programming student should be able to do it.

I was just discussing a similar issue in another forum, but I guess it will hit the same wall as this one.
For reference here's what I had thought.

-------------- BEGIN --------------
- the DC would be able to make a list of match-ups of one offensive play versus a defensive play (example: 'HB Pitch Strong (Single Back)' against the custom 'Rushing HB on 3rd and short') of the DC choice
- once a day those match-ups would be simulated using the teams offensive lineup against the teams defensive lineup and be available for review (not a whole game, just that particular play).

to lessen the burden on the server the following could be done:
- allow only 10 matchups (more or less according to estimated server load). This could be considered as a team training session.
- once simulated, the matchup list would be reset and the reviews would be available
- once a new matchup list was entered the reviews would be removed
-------------- END --------------

I suggested a duplicate or copy team lots of sesons ago. It was quickly locked with the "sim can't handle the same IP and blah blah..." response.

Was thinking about a way to do this a couple of days ago and my idea is having some "Practice game" button that makes the sim select a random CPU team (all CPU dots). This CPU will cut and sign dots until matching the user team, or if this is not possible then when selecting the CPU team, it should be the one with the most similar roster, and attributes, SAs and VAs will be copied .
As for the OAI and DAI it should copy the one your team has.

Like it, hate it, want to change the code

well I agree with you it would be awesome

however, Bort has stated that this is not possible with the current code, and until he changes it (if ever) it will not physically be possible.

so locking as: not possible
