Fighting Gamecocks 15-1 vs AZ Cards 14-2
These two teams opened up the season facing each other and now they will close the season with one team holding the Pee Wee Gold trophy. In week 1, The Fighting Gamecocks hammered AZ 55-0 that had Gerr shaking his head in disbelief. Since then the Cards builds have caught up considerable and knocked off the Fighting Gamecocks in the Pee Wee Tourney 10-0. The Cardz are 2-1 vs FGC this season also winning a preseason game 21-14.
Against Gerrs "Other Team" FGC had a balanced offense throwing 62 times and rushing 40. Arizona also had a balanced game against Buffalo rushing 39 times to 31 passing. Both teams had great defense with FGC holding the Bears to 160 yards of offense. The Cards gave up 216 but held the Bills on moving the chains quite a few times.
As most championships are, points will be hard to come by. Will it be a pump fake, a broken tackle or a bad angle on a sweep?
Passing game- Even, while FGC has a duel threat QB which can throw and run the ball, AZ has a 6th WR while FGC only carried 5. Both teams carry 3 Tes and both teams have equal scat backs.
Rushing Game - Slight edge goes to AZ having two power backs that are hard to stop in short yardage situations. One uses surge while the other use power through. Each SA giving the extra yard at times when needed the most. FGC can also run the ball but not as efficient in short yardage.
Overall Offense - Slight edge to FGC, not sure id Dusk is helping Gerrs offense but with FGC having its own coordinators for offense and defense then the edge goes to FGC. Working on only offense allows things to be picked up like AZ using a completely different defense vs Buffalo as opposed to Crib. Also Dusks team uses some plays of what AZ is using so it allows more in depth game planning vs those teams as well.
Defensive Run game - Edge goes to AZ. AZ defense is top notch and has slowed many running games down to a crawl. FGC has a solid defense but the difference is Gerr uses 4-3 Defensive lineman when needed as opposed to Jkids 3-4.
Defensive passing game - Advantage AZ. Chicago exposed FGC HB coverage in the pro set last game. That breakdown lead to a Bears TD in a tight game. The defense survived a few more attempts from that play but the coverage never changed.
Overall Defense - Advantage slight edge to AZ. Gerr is one of the top all time defensive coaches in pee wee. Jkid is pretty solid and has strengths but does have a weakness in his defense. More so it comes from his build ethic than so his tactics and plays/AI's. Overall Arizonas defensive builds even at level 12 are more solid than that of FGCs.
Special Teams - Slight advantage to FGC. FGC has the advantage based on levels. FGC hasn't scored on a return all playoffs nor has the Cardz. Neither team has shined on special teams but the edge goes with the levels.
