First off, I realize that pretty much anything having to do with changing how the d-leagues work is NGTH. That being said, this change is so minimal that I can't see how it could possibly be negative, and I hope mods take a moment to read the suggestion before locking.
Without further ado, my suggestion is a simple one: allow the purchase of d-leagues. Before everyone goes up in arms, hear me out. This ownership is a restricted one: no tactics to change, no contract offering ability, no stadiums to build, no depth chart to change. In fact, this ownership is a title for access to a forum.
What is the purpose of this suggestion then, if owners couldn't do anything to the teams? The owners would act as mentors in the forum. They would help guide players who recently joined through the inner working of GLB, something that is most certainly lacking in the game today.
When I joined GLB 4 years ago, I was fortunate enough to have someone else in the d-league I signed my first player to, that told me to go find a human team and not waste my time there. Without that, I was stuck on a random CPU team with nigh dead forums and no idea what to do. That was 4 years ago, when GLB was a pretty exciting place and plenty of member were still around. Now, I'm certain d leagues are complete ghost towns. How much fun is that to new members? It no wonder people stop playing.
The users who by teams would presumably be people who are committed to seeing GLB thrive and grow, and due to it really being just forum access, it really won't have any appeal to people who aren't invested in GLB. What's more, this is an easy way for GLB to make a little cash. I don't think it should be expensive to buy a d league team, maybe 100-200 flex, but money is money.
suggestion in a nutshell:
Allow for users to pay up to 200 flex to buy a d-league team, in which they only have forum access (no tactics, depth chart, recruiting, etc). These owners would then act as guides to new GLB users by answering questions and posting relevant guides.
Personally, I feel like this is an easy step to take to hopefully have GLB retain more long term membership as opposed to having people join and quit due to not knowing what to do.
Thanks,
Pete Carroll
Edit: to clarify, d-leagues would still operate in the same manner. Users would join and then receive offers from d league teams when they make a player, nothing changes. Perhaps they could make it so teams with owners are filled first, but thats just an extra.
