Do HB's get better positions just because? Or is it level disadvantage?

Not sure about the question... Are you saying your HB shouldn't be #2 in the MVP race? If that's what you're getting at, I agree the current ST MVP system is weird:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player_awards.pl?player_id=4287991 this guy is ranked #3 in the MVP race and has a global rank of #78, where as your HB, ranked #2 in the MVP race, has a global rank of #1040. So why your HB is ranked higher in the MVP race is hard to understand... but it's like that in every league.

edit... don't think that positions or level make any difference in determining the MVP rankings.

for those that are new, Hagalaz means a part (nobody knows how big of a part) of the MVP formula is based on a given dots production as a percentage of its team's overall production.

proved a few seasons ago that level does play a part. agent checked his status and then boosted, rechecked and he had dropped b4 playing the next game.

global rank is meaningless because it is based on raw stats, and mvp is based on adjusted crap.
