You know who has it as soon as the league stats register the 16th game, but the trophy comes later.

ONLY if they are still in the league. i lost my 1st 2 MVP trophies when i retired them prior to the trophies being handed out.

they award MVP usually in mid-November, and even though MVP stands for Most Valuable Player, it really should be called "Most Known Player on a Team that Made the Playoffs"
