.......I'm going through my second PM sparing session with a backup (HB this time) this season that wants to be released. This game that just happened, we played a tough team and he didn't get many carries. Last game, against a weaker team, he got 40+ plays, a bunch of carries and a TD. We have a 21 point cutoff to play the backups when we are winning big to try to be cool to the backups. I've even had starters complain because they can't pad their stats.

Like last time, I never promised this guy he would be a starter. I told him his activity would depend on the caliber of the team we are playing. Yet, despite the fact he signed a 1 season contract and got a signing bonus and a salary.......and despite the fact that in the 2nd half of the season it would be a double hit against team chemistry......he selfishly wants out. And he wants me to f*** myself.

Here is my message to him and players like him:

When you accepted that contract, it was a completely unilateral decision. The team owner didn't click the accept button, Bort didn't click the accept button, no one did but you. Now, you aren't pleased with the decision that you and you alone made. Why am I as the owner responsible, in any way, for your actions? I'm not - honor your contract.

frost i like you and all, but you shouldn't air this stuff on the boards. i know owning is tough sometimes dealing with players but thats part of the game, finding balance between your guys and their demands

I agree 100% with BerkeyTerps here. This shouldn't be posted in the league forum. Good luck to everyone involved with this situation.

What is wrong with actually talking about things in the forums? Do the forums exist just to bash mothers and drop in a drinking joke or two? I think Frost wanted to see if other teams had similar issues with backups.

theres nothing wrong with talking about things in a forum... and i think its pretty obvious most teams, if not all, will run into a similar situation with at least one player or two from time to time.

i'm not trying to attack frost at all, I just think that its wrong for him to single out a player, I know he didn't say his name but pointing out it was a backup HB and his stats makes it pretty obvious who he is talking about. i think frost could have brought this up more generally. i mean hell i don't care about the guys feelings, or yours, or mine for that matter, its all just a game, but i dunno, maybe that guy cares.

there are other places to talk about such things than the general BBB4 forum I am sure, there are owners threads right?

but hell, we solve one problem you brought up, we got something to talk about

I ran into this problem all the time, I wish players would understand that the team is bigger than them and that the success of the team is more important than the success of their individual player.

That's ok though because your the whole team now anyway. So you don't have to worry about it anymore. J/K of course. Holy crap that is a lot of guys you have! How much do you spend for FP to keep all of those guys boosted?

He has every damn right to call the bitch a pussy. I'd let the contract expire to the end, and hold onto his useless ass until the contract says so.

I agree with BerkleyTerps here. All of us owners deal with this every year. It never fails. That is agreed.

To air it out on the BBB#4 boards is like an NFL coach or owner talking to a player through the press. I just don't like it, and the owner may lose respect from his dedicated players due to this.

If I play for you, and I have a gripe about whatever, would you post my complaints on the general forums? Would I, in turn, consider doing what YOU want after you have done this?

I would not.

My starters are united that players shouldn't be released because of the chemistry hit. They know I am not going to bring every grievance to this board. For my team, this isn't some small little gripe. I've had 5 backups, all with one year contracts that are about to wrap up, who have demanded releases. This is an epidemic and a large scale GLB issue. I wanted to get some feedback from the owners I most often interact with.......

probably isn't the best route to go frosty......

but i would do it in a heartbeat if i was in your shoes... sign the contract and honor it. or the same goes for owners. if you make a commitment to a player about play time or anything, honor it...
