It doesn't work. I followed that guide to a tee for the most part and it sucks! It says to put your best pancakers on the outside......well......the other team just ran right around the pancakers because they were too slow to get in position to do any pancaking.

Example:http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2168342&pbp_id=996975

Notice their speed guys on the outside run right by our pancakers.

STs are pretty simple nowadays.

For kick return coverage, you need a quality OU2/OU5/IN4. All of these guys will come free (unblocked) and have to deal with the opposing teams back wedge. These are the guys who you want to be a) fast and b) good fumble forcers. I also like them to be good block breakers, which goes in line with fumble forcing. For the remaining guys on the unit, make sure they aren't going to be pancake-prone (don't just use CBs and get pancaked across the board) but don't necessarily use guys that have zero shot at the tackle (your DTs who will never catch a returner).

For kick returns, you need to focus on countering the opposing teams OU2/OU5/IN4. Your back wedge should be a) mobile and b) great at holding their blocks. They're dealing with the opposing teams best ST players. If you have any blocking FBs or blocking STOPs, this is the place to put them. For your front wedge, and remaining spots you can just use blocking TEs and o-linemen. I do tend to stash force fumble STOPs on the very outside. A bit of energy conservation going on there.

For punt return coverage, you need quality gunners. The same guys you use for OU2/OU5/IN4 will work. Everywhere else you can use the same guys you used for the remaining kick return coverage slots.

For punt returns, it's a bit of a mixed bag. You need guys with a solid blocking radius to grab the gunners if possible (think OTs). If you're lucky you can pancake them, but ideally you just need to grab them. PP1 and PP2 act as a bit similarly to the guys you'd have in your back wedge. They need to be pretty quick on their feet so they can get back towards the returner. Everywhere else you can just fill in. With punt returns try to stick with faster blockers where possible.
