I just made a new DE and I want to make him a beastly DE. Now, he is only level one, but I'll post here after every level up to get people's input.

I've already bought all equipment and custom equipment, but the custom equipment only has 2, not 6 yet so I have to get some flex points to get 4 more. I will also be boosting him at the end of every season. Also, I've already spent the first 15 SP.

Here he is:

Deacon "Head Slap" Jones
6'5" 274 Pounds (Got him big like I wanted)
Level 1

Strength: 22 Blocking: 10
Speed: 16 Tackling: 13
Agility: 22 Throwing: 8
Jumping: 10 Catching: 10
Stamina: 12 Carrying: 8
Vision: 11 Kicking: 10
Confidence: 10 Punting: 8

You gotta be patient with DEs. It takes time. I haven't had much production with mine because I've been in a pro league since level 10, but I've looked around at other builds. So here's some simple guidelines.

1) All equipment on Strength/Speed/Agility
2) Get Strength/Speed/Agility to soft cap (50) before pumping up special abilities
3) Train Vision to about 25, then train confidence.
4) No need to have tackling higher than 30.
5) Get stamina to low-mid 30s before level 13.

That'll keep you busy until about level 16-19. Good luck!

And Big Sack is a total waste of skill points.

Thanks a lot man. I thought I could focus mainly on Strength, Speed, Vision, and Stamina mostly with some tackling on the side. I'm just gonna put my tackling on wrap up for now for now and work on it more later.

For my SA, I'm not gonna touch them until I get my strength, agility, and speed up high enough because until then, they're useless. I was thinking agility is more important to DEs than speed because if you are pass rusher, you don't need blazing speed to get to the QB, but a lot of agility to get pass and fake out the OL and strength to over power him. I'm sure I'll need speed to catch HBs and other players, but agility seems more important.

Next 5 SPs I get, I was thinking about putting them in stamina.

Agility and speed have worked for me so far, with my strength less than agility, but on par with speed.

Focus on most blockers weaknesses, cos head on, you aint gonna out strength a similar level OT.

Ya there is no way I can over strength the OL because that is their main focus. That and blocking. Agility and speed sounds right and mixed with strength it should be good. Strength enough to push the OL back and agility and speed to get around them.

Also, I know height and weight have a small part in how a DE does so I made sure I got a big tall DE.

Blocking helps shed blocks, its not a huge help but it does help, consider training on it at the least.

Ya I heard about that. I train my LB for that and I've seen him shed a few more blocks to get to the tackle faster. Instead of getting blocked and letting the Hb run 10 yards, I got off the block earlier and stopped him onl y after 2 yards. It does help, but a not a lot.

I just got my custom equipment finished so now I have 24 strength and 24 agility rather than 22.

That assumption is your first mistake. But, hey, what do I know?

you may be able to compete and once in a while get around the OL relying on str but its unlikely you will beat him.

get high agility coupled with good speed and str would be a good build

t-money you definitely have the track record but its a good chance that your DE success is based on your other stats. Str is good but agility is better

and 17 of your sacks came against bad OL

Ok well then tell me what I should focus on. I need as much input as I can get.

Make sure you ar set on the depth chart as the RDE. Most runs go to the offense's right. Thus, teams place better pass blockers at LOT. This means you need to outclass the LOT in SPD and AGI. Keep the STR high enough to be competitive (depending on you league), but focus on SPD and AGI.

And tackling is not that important, but I hear it may mean the difference between a hurry and a sack...

These sub forums are a waste of space. The ones that have the magic ratio dont really divulge there secrets. This is more of a bragging place but I will give you my build. It doesnt work worth a damn, so you might want to try a different route.

Strength: 67.18 Blocking: 20.7
Speed: 49.33 Tackling: 32.93
Agility: 46.24 Throwing: 7
Jumping: 14.77 Catching: 8.47
Stamina: 30.63 Carrying: 9
Vision: 32.2 Kicking: 8
Confidence: 24.31 Punting: 8

in this one all equipment is on strenght. Ive tried with around 50 strenght and 55 agility didnt work, same with speed. I dunno, maybe this will help you.

So my most important stats should be speed and agility?

I'm only a D league team and they have me at LDE and I don't think I can get it changed.
