I'm guessing the at the moment CPU teams run Bort's "Balanced" AI Presets. Could be wrong. Don't really care though.
We aren't getting rid of CPU teams unfortunately. So, I propose the CPU teams have more variety.
Part 1: My idea is that at the beginning of each season, each team quietly gets assigned a random AI of the selections (wildcat, pass first, west coast, etc..) that it would use as a preferred AI should the team go, or even start out as CPU. If its human-owned or bought by a human, this preferred AI just gets ignored until Dub inevitably sells the team on day 20 or so and it goes back to CPU..
Part 2: Then each week, each CPU team would choose a game plan where the preferred AI preset has maybe a 60% of being the game plan for the week and the other AI presets split up the other 40%. Percentages can be fine tuned by Bort.
Additions: The preferred AI is hidden in a way so people can't pick and choose CPU teams to sign their players to.
This way, you get some variety but not complete randomness.
