With there being jumping for de/dts, is it possible for them to bat down passes at the line? or is it pointless to put points in that stat for those positions?

Not pointless at all. Jumping helps with diving tackles and yes it is possible for D linemen to bat down passes.

It is not pointless. Far from it. If you also invest into towering man, you'll get some occasional PDs and it will help you get more diving tackles to succeed.

A lot of people believe in jumping for DL. Just dont go to crazy with it.
^^^This^^^ and also be sure to address his primary skills to completion before moving onto his background skills such as jumping. I have built a WR and a CB with jumping in mind... but I still stay on attack with the primaries until I've reached end of build. It's easy to get off track of your build if you start slipping too many SP's into non-primary skills. Been there... done that... learned hard.
