A long time ago I tried to make this suggestion but I did a lousy job of it back then so I've had time to work it over a lot.
Has this happened to any of you? http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=4973345

If so, then I suspect you are not alone. it would be SO simple if there was an option on your HOME PAGE to create, re-work, set-up, or play around with all of this. A place where you could create playbooks, AI's, and packages to your hearts content. Then, if you find something you like/want to try, you can "copy" it to your team(s) of choice where it can be used.
This would accomplish many things. #1, it would allow for current OC's and DC's to have, and keep, their work instead of having to re-do things over and over again. #2, people that haven't ever tried to be an OC or a DC now could explore, on their own time and without messing with the team(s), the intricacies and nuances of being a coach. Hone their craft and become new coaches for a game seemingly starved for them. #3, as a former coach myself, on reason I stopped doing it was the insane amount of time I lost to having to sit there and finish making the playbook because I always felt lost if I had to leave it and come back days later (same for AI's and packages). Having this would allow me to do this whenever I felt like it... even while a game was being played or while nightly rollover was happening. And, lastly, #4, should the unthinkable happen and someone accidentally erase everything... I'd have a readily available copy to re-install before the next game rather than the terrible feeling of knowing I'm going to be very busy for the next several hours because of a simple accident.
I'm sure others can improve on this suggestion and hope they do so. Thanks in advance.

Surely this is not a serious suggestion. Or perhaps you have not yet explored the tactics tab up above?

Theo...all of that has already been implemented..a long time ago.

Look at your tactics page..click playcalling AI...see the tabs where it says -Team AI- -My AI- -GM AI- -preset AI-

Same thing on the packages page..

And again on the custom D Plays..

I have to agree with them Theo.

I started building private playbooks and packages two seasons prior to becoming an OC. I haven't DC'd yet, but I probably have 40 or 50 plays designed just from fiddling with the DPC in my spare time. Now I copy all my packages and playbooks to my personal profile so I can work on them in spare time for future teams.

Ok... I know about this (the tactics page)... but now I am even more confused.
If I'm not the only one posting suggestions such as this;
http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=4973345

And this;
http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=4973062

Then are these suggestions also implemented already? I did this post because it's not the first time I've seen these suggestions in the forums... therefore I thought they would work if added to what is already there. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong and it won't be the first time or the last. But then I'm not alone in the confusion.

(EDIT: Yeah... I had told you I had suggested this a long time ago and I just went back to my "GLB notes" and reposted, then updated by adding onto. I should've really read it first as much of what I put in the OP was already in place. My bad. Still, there are things missing from the "tactics" page that leads people to post the linked suggestions and that was what I had intended to address. Oh my stars and garters! Whatta f*ckedupmess. Sorry.)

The issue in those threads is how cumbersome the Tactics page is. Packages must be moved one at a time. Plays do not sort in any sensible order within packages, making it harder to edit plays within the package. Defensive plays are "per item" unlike offensive plays, leading to even more clutter than we experience in AI logic and in packages. Etc.

In short, users want an easier way to edit the Tactics page when it comes to plays. I have to admit, it's a PITA. As I simplify the structure of my AI, I create new packages for specific needs, leaving me to delete a bunch of old packages rather than simply edit them. If I could sort the plays within a package the way I want to, then I wouldn't need to create new packages at all. I only do it because it is quicker than editing under the current system. It's really difficult to locate a specific play when the package contains 50+ plays, some with the same name but different formation. That makes it difficult to adjust positional depth charts, checkdowns, or even just delete a play. It's very time consuming.

So the Tactics page needs to list the play, formation, run/pass, and short/medium/long so that a sorting option can be implemented where plays can be sorted by any one of those categories. Defense could go even further with zone/man, cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, etc. For coordinators, a big chunk of their time is spent organizing plays within the AI. This whole process could be simplified by using a spreadsheet-like interface with rolling over the play name bringing up a pic of the play itself.

To put it another way, I just spent three nights sorting through play data from scrimmages to determine which plays should become the foundation of my offense. It took me another two nights to simplify the structure of my packages so it will be easier to edit my AI settings. That's about 15 - 18 hours of work, mainly because I'm building an offense from scratch. So, I want to get it set up as simply as possible during the first season. Otherwise it will cause no end of headaches for seasons to come.

With the way the tactics pages are set up now, if you don't simplify things as much as possible from the very beginning, it will cost you hours and hours to fix it later. Even when you do set it up right, it takes several hours of work just to figure out how to set it up.

What I just finished writing up was blocks of plays which are cross-utilized in several different situations. Rather than having one large package for each situation, I have several small packages which I can "stack" together to create every large package I intended. It makes maintenance so much easier, but it takes extra time to set up.

I'm sure several users are not quite as patient as I am.
