As we enter the regular season with many teams shy a position or two because no human player could be found at that position, its time to talk about possible solutions.

One that a little bird has whispered to me is that we ought better utilize the vast unwashed masses of the severely inactive dots laying around in the shadowy corners of GLB, unsigned and unloved.

By this I mean dots whose agents have clearly left the game. Inactive for some minimum level of time, say 50 days or maybe even 200.

Since their dots may have been well built (buyer beware would be the rule here), they would likely be more useful than a CPU player and a human dot on the roster is less demoralizing for other team mates and potential recruits as well.

So let owners send automatically accepted contracts to dots whose owners are more than 50 days inactive. They then enter the roster.

These dots would be able to be instant released by the agent should the agent return to the game, via a link on the player and in a PM sent when they are signed.

Obviously these dots would have whatever tactics they had when abandoned, and they would not be applying their SPs or VAs any more, so they should not displace any active human players' dots. But they would be useful in a pinch when nothing else is available.

For example, this agent's dots would be available to plug in if you desperately needed someone

Well, we were told it's on the NGTH list yet Catch took it upon himself to ignore GLB's "rules" and sign inactive dots to HIS WL team.

soooo.... +1

I suspect the CPU's would be a better way to go.

True true, but at some positions in some leagues on some seasons, its Musical Chair time, if you do not sign one of the few chairs available at that position, you're standing the rest of the season!

Actually, I don't really mind in a way this if once the agent returns, the dots go back to free agent status automatically and instantly. Otherwise its a somewhat minor inconvenience but an inconvenience nonetheless for the agent. Of course there's the obvious issue that the dot builds should remain closed to all throughout the whole time.

So I'm neutral on this idea. Its a decent idea but would create havoc elsewhere. There will be support tickets taken out on a regular basis when dots disappear off rosters right before a game.

Wonder if he is considering releasing any of them since they are all inactive

Hey Catch... looking to trade?

+1 You can't do it for one team, and not every one else.

If the dot is inactive, it shouldn't be available. And people shouldn't be able to sign them in preference to human dots which are active - something which would happen if this suggestion was implemented.

Well I normally would be against this, but if Catch can do it then everyone should be able to do it.

HUGE -1

An agent pays for their dots, so if they go MIA and don't resign those dots, then they should remain unsigned.

Not to mention that if a dots agent has been MIA for 2 seasons, then the dot is going to suck anyway....

-1 in addition to everything else already mentioned...what if the agent was away and decides to come back? they find their dots with contracts they never wanted?

The only surprise here is not in who brought it up but in how long it took yello to do it after what was done. Suck less and you won't have this problem each and every season.
