There are 16 teams in the opposing conference. You play one of them in Week 1. Why is it that it's much more likely to also play them in the preseason, than any of the other teams in the conference. This can't be that hard to correct for future seasons.

I do love playing the same team in preseason week 4 and then two days later in regular season week 1.

In case it wasn't clear, I am suggesting that the team you are scheduled to play week 1 in the out of conference game is NOT included in the 4 preseason games.

do you actually use a real AI in the pre season?

I would like to get rid of the OOC game altogether. Just creates imbalance.

I agree.... Oftentimes if there's a CPU team on the other conference, the team that it gets to play gets an easy W.

+1 again, as I just realized one of my teams plays the same opponent in back to back games day -1 and day 1, that in particular shouldn't happen

We're due for another suggestion to change scheduling. But, for the love of Bort, *don't* suggest "17-team conferences." Been there, pointed and laughed already.

It is a part of football and should stay in the game. Be happy that you aren't like the Philadelphia Eagles who have both Cleveland & Pittsburgh on their Pre & regular season schedule or Minnesota who play the 9ers & Texans twice.
