That's a cool idea but what if the Coach decided to quit calling the Plays? You couldn't really make him keep calling them?

could just make a shitty AI after he wanted to stop calling plays...

could be interesting if teams had to PAY a salary to GMs and it affected their team bottom line, only then would contracts matter. so some guy wants to quit my team to go DC for another team, well, they'd have to buy out his contract or something

Pay via flex .... sweet, I'd do that

This is the problem with this suggestion.
The only way that I see something like this working would be if the Team Owner had a way of rating his coaches at the end of every season. That way if a coach stopped he would get a black mark or bad eval.
Honestly though, even with that some would take pride in getting negative feedback..... the same way that some take pride in getting banned from the forums.

I can see the reasoning behind this but at the same time I can see that many teams are having issues trying to find coordinators on even just a temporary basis. Lets not complicate things further by forced terms.

Contracts have to be honored on both ends, so I'm not sure the suggestion of contracts addresses the real problem. You sign a guy who talks a mean game but turns out to be a lemon you'd be stuck with him for 3 seasons too......
Would be nice if the team could just opt to use an AI from a previous game that season once the coordinator leaves. Yeah, it wouldn't be optimal but even a default AI from a good coordinator can at least keep a team reasonably competitive for the rest of the season.

Actually, with free GLB-supplied AIs now available for the past few seasons, any Owner can plug one in for a few games as a stopgap until they find a new coach.

While the OP is a cool idea, I just don't see it as feasible. Too many things that can go wrong, especially when enforcing the contract. I think it would be more destructive than constructive to GLB.

If I was forced to coordinate for a team and I hated those fokkers I would make sure they sucked as much as possible.

Thanks, didn't know that - which makes this suggestion really not needed at all then.
