Point 1: Catch Fakes does not make sense the way it is implemented. If you are a DB watching a receiver, and that receiver convinces you that he is about to catch the ball, are you stop in your tracks? No, you are going to close on him. Receivers do this to gain an edge at winning the ball in the air and maybe a half-step of separation, not to get wide-ass open.

Point 2: Catch Fake is overpowered/has become a must-have SA. Here are examples from just the finals and semi-finals of World League.

Suggestion: Change catch fake so that instead of causing a drastic hesitation, a successful fake instead causes a significant vision penalty specifically for the INT/PD roll. Perhaps a brief speed penalty, but not this insta-TD shrinking crap.

I don't see that many catch fakes, maybe a quarter as many as I do pump fakes and pump fake is likely to take your entire defensive backfield. Bad idea.

He's right about what catch fake should not be doing, it should not making the CB come to a complete stop. If it goes off it pretty much create a huge gain every time.

realistically the DB should move in the direction, still at full speed, then the WR cuts back the other way. So it gives some separation, but not as huge as it is now. And if the DB has good agility/change direction, it can recover somewhat to stop 70 yard TD's all the time.

Catch Fake is OPed because when it fires the defender actually reacts to a pass, unlike when the ball is thrown and the defender does nothing.

Catch Fake is a mandatory SA on speedsters because when it fires you win single man coverage and are wide open unless the safety over the top covers you instead of another dot going long.

I'm not asking for fewer catch fakes.
It's silly to compare # of catch fakes to # of pump fakes anyway as almost every passing QB has a decent amount of Pump Fake but many receivers don't have Catch Fake. (although that will change if the SA doesn't)

Yeah, if I could swap my SAs to add Catch Fake the way it is now working, I would.

Pisses me off because I used to use it alot but it didnt work fer beans.

I switch away and it pwns my CBs all day long now.

But catch fake is easily defeated by a deep zone. Nothing stops pump fake. No matter where the dot is on the field, nor how much agility/vision and fake equipment it has.

Yeah, but unlike pump fake, catch fake works illogically. Favre has gotten many defenders off-balance with his great pump fakes. Have you ever seen Randy Moss or Jerry Rice running a route, fake like they're going to catch, and make the defender stop dead in his tracks? I haven't.

I do this to defenders IRL all the time. You run a streak, turn back like you are making a catch, the defender jumps the route, and you keep going, this time the defender is underneath instead of over the route. The difference is only a few steps, but it does work IRL, but not the way it works in GLB... you have to slow down or stop to make the defender bite. In GLB the dot doesn't have to slow down at all to sell a catch fake.
