There is no one right answer to this question. It really depends upon your build plan, which also depends upon your player's position and archetype.

With that said, I can not think of a build plan that would only 2nd cap (61) your secondary attribute. I have done some build plans where I only 3rd capped it, but that was assuming I was going to be multi-training that attribute for 7 seasons, and that I only wanted it to be around 80. For almost every position / archetype, you will want to take your second attribute to the 4th / 5th cap at least, so I would suggest that you are not ready to switch yet.

With all that said, Kop gave a great answer above. There is nothing wrong with alternating between your 2nd and 3rd attributes, which goes back to my original statement....there is no one right answer to this question.

Sometimes to cap early you will spend the points. 33 is early... the math on it isn't perfect because it optimizes training, but ignores the opportunity cost of not putting SPs into your primary or secondary.

Depending on the number of majors, the ability to cap a primary or secondary, and my training pattern I will cap a tertirary attribute between 35 and 41, then continue training it until it is 55 or higher and I am done adding points to my secondary attribute (somewhere around 83).

id take their advice over mine for sure. Im pretty mediocre at building. 33 is just always in my head and easy to remember.

The best answer is "whenever it is better for your player to put the SPs there instead of the others".

After you finish your first attribute, 3 different situations can occur:

A) You cannot raise any attribute to the next cap
- in which case you wait and don't apply anything

B) You only have enough SP to raise one attribute
- In which case you raise that attribute, no matter if it is the 2nd or 3rd. Or 4th.

C) You have enough SP to raise either one of two (more is possible, although I've never seen it)
- In which case you raise the attribute that is being trained less efficiently to the next cap.
