I'm about to buy a Pro team. I have a question before I do that though. I'm a season 1 vet.. just actually contacted support to get my old account, Bikaben, back.. so you may search for Bikaben to confirm I'm a season one vet.. Anyhow, the question I had was.. if I buy this team right now, what will I be doing the next 12 days before the new season starts? Mass recruitment and such, right?

Sorry I haven't played in a while and I want to come back.

Welcome back.

The big things are recruiting a full team and creating O and D AI (or find coordinators to help you).

TBH, you may find it hard to recruit good players if you are starting from an empty roster, as Pro is not as prestigious as it once was. It might be wise to start with a rookie team, as people expect rookie teams to be starting from scratch and are usually willing to make players for them. It will also give you time to learn about all the ways the game has changed in the year that you were away. Just some friendly advice.

I owned teams before back a few years ago and I always wanted to own a Pro team because they're the best and most prestigious.. is that still what I want to do? What league is the best now? And with a Rookie team.. is that basically the same as those normal teams they had 1-2 years ago that start out in the league where you recruit players right after they're overqualified for Pee-Wee? Like level 10-15 or whatever it might be?

Thanks so much

World league is the best, followed by (IMO) the Elite leagues in the various age groups. Pro is a mixture of teams that are almost WL quality (maybe 20%), teams that are decent Pro but will never be WL quality (maybe 40%) and teams that have no business in Pro (maybe 40%). Any decent team that stays together until they hit plateau will make it to Pro, so being in Pro is not prestigious any longer.

In contrast, you have to win your way into WL or the Elite leagues for each age group. They have better competition and (IMO) are generally more fun. You can certainly try to put together a good Pro team, and you might succeed at it. However, at this point, it seems like the better road to success is to build a team from the ground up. You can then try to earn your way into the Elite leagues which will also help prepare you more for when you get to Pro.

Okay so basically my best bet would be to create a Rookie team and build it and try to get into the WPL leagues eventually. I was thinking about trying a Pro team because they're almost there and if I try hard enough and build the team right, I can maybe get into the Elite/WPL's faster. I dunno.

It could work, and you could always try for a season, then drop to Rookie if it does not. I think you may find that the best players (i.e the ones that are good enough to help get you to WL) are not going to go to an unestablished team, but perhaps I am wrong on that.

Good advice from Plankton. It's not easy to start out in Pro with an empty roster - recruiting just isn't there anymore. When a top-level team goes bust, many agents just retire their dots and start over with level 1s; not everyone goes shopping for a new home. Many people create dots on rookie teams with the intention of riding them as far as they'll go. The FA market isn't what it once was. If you start this season with an empty pro team, you'll get a few good dots, but you'll have to sign a bunch of cast-offs and rejects to field a full roster. That may not even get you a playoff spot, much less a chance against a team ascending to WL. Still, it would be a good idea to try one season at that level just to get a sense for how the O and D have changed over time, so you have a better idea of what to build towards when you restart the team the following season. You might also be able to connect with some quality agents to restart your team with.

Even in the lower leagues, I had to keep my team for a full season, and get about half to re-sign before any of the good dots on my level would consider joining the team. So, I would take the advice above, and start out in a league below Pro level. I would say, maybe three seasons would be enough to get back to Natty Pro if you worked at it. Where does that place you? Semi Pro? National Minor?

Damn....what am I sayin??? I'd be competing with you for recruitment!
It's all good. I can take it.
