bort rightly got rid of SSB because it was affecting the fun of the other teams in the league. teams were supposed to be penalized for tanking, so now all people do is buy a team in the lowest league possible and load if full of elite caliber players so they can statwhore and scam all the mvps.

get rid of the mvp and maybe we'd regain just a little integrity in this game.

and lets not forget the soon to be coming deluge of people complaining that the wrong person won, because the mvp formulas are so FUBAR.

Take it away and the deluge will just be people thinking they are innovative by suggesting that Bort create an MVP system.

in theory, i like the idea of the mvp. but all its become are higher level players pounding on outmatched teams, and 1 man teams giving their player the ball every down. i remember a mvp from a long yime ago. only human on the team was his HB and he carried every down. averaged like 2 yards a carry, but won the mvp because of the team % bullshit. we figured out a few seasons ago that level does play some part in the mvp, but it needs to be a much bigger part. if you are a 79 in a league of 60ish that needs to be taken into account.

MVP's should be voted on by the league - let the agents decide. They know who are the guys that are performing a cut above the rest when the competitive games are played. Each team has a representative or two and they make their case in the league forum - for all to see. Then again, that would only work if the league had competitive balance in the 1st place.

voting will never work because it would be based on who has the most friends. i've been in leagues were as many as 6 teams were some how associated with each other. it either needs to be 100% based on relevant stats, or removed from the game.

Voting would work if the people want it to work - otherwise just get rid of it then.

Stats are only as good as they are interpreted - i.e. how good is a QB really if he throws for 5,000 yards but 3,500 of them are YAC? Who's more valuable, the 2 yard dump artist or the recievers running amok downfield?

It's my understanding that blowout adjusted stats fix was done to supposedly correct this issue. I am guessing it needs a much stiffer penalty for blowout adjusted stats. That should(?) correct the problem... I think.

no just make stats against playoff teams count only and that will solve the problem.

nope. if you score 1 td in a 21-17 win, thats nothing compared to the 15 TDs scored in a 255 pt win. even adjust, that'll be more than 5 TDs. MVP still comes down to who beats up the cupcakes the worst.

another example of a player that does NOT deserve it. you threw the ball nearly 80% of the time, and didnt even complete 50%. this is the type of gaming the system that makes the mvp meaningless. i didnt bother to check the winner once i saw your situation. the whole point of this thread was to NOT reward stat whoring.

How is this different from Team Owners running a whole roster of their own players to winout a league season after season?

I'd be all for getting rid of the MVP endorsements. I'd still want a lil trophy though if my guy wins it.
